hey all
been talking to the family thats sewing my curtains up and the ol boy is selling 2 gold watches, one is a garrard, this one is an auto windup type, shakes and winds, also can be wound manually, by all accounts garrads are watch makers to the queen, it was given to his dad for 25 years service.
the second im not sure on name but on first look is smaller and so maybe a ladies watch and looks like a pocket watch but isnt, just gives that apperance, the back opens on a hinge like a pocket watch saying case made in england and and the works inside were made in usa massachusetts with a serial number so could be traced for its life.
now the garrard the guy was offered £120 at a scrap gold place a few years ago.
second watch is made by waltham -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchbit about in the war pocket watches were not good so started designing wpocket watches as wrist watches, the old boys watch looks like one of these, nice bit of history.
does look like a pocket watch and they welded lugs on to take a strap...
price for both are £180
