Looks like a gear pump, so the flow will be low. Around 12 lpm at a guess.

Why don't you set it up and time the flow.

If it is anything to go by the pump manufacturers presently advertise two oberdorfer type pumps. One has a flow of 2.5 litres/min and the other about 3.2 litres/min.

I agree. It will be a gear pump and low Lpm. If you think about it, presuming it is for a ram, then you don't want the ram moving too fast else you can't control it.

looking on their web page I can't see any of their pumps rates to 2800rpm ?

(just moved, so internet via mobile phone right now, bit slow, maybe I missed some?)

either way, gear pumps flow rate is pretty flat as pressure increases, so flow rate with no pressure shouldn't be miles away from flow rate against pressure

but... the front section of the pump with the gears in it looks quite long to me... and has pretty large ports, 1inch?   which would make me think it's higher flow rate lower pressure?

The pump bit is just the ally piece, rest seems to be an adaptor plate thing?

There'll be a spider drive in that adaptor plate thing.

What are you planning to use it for ?

just saw your thread about an oil tank too

I've got a 12v hydraulic pump, built onto an oil tank that would easy work a log splitter if you want it ?

power it with an old 12v battery and a battery charger ?

needs decent power cables to it, it pulls a fair few amps, I think I might have some, they're only short but that's all you need ?

you can have it

dad bought it years ago from a fisherman who used it to power his pot haller thing, we used it for a tail lift, but it's sat for about 5 years not not getting used, might as well go to a good home :-)

where abouts are you again ?  down south somewhere?

there's a chance I might be able to get it dropped off around essex area some time - maybe relay it on from there ?

(it's bloody heavy mind)

let me dig it out first and I'll get you dimensions/weight :-)

EDIT: I could stick it on a small pallet and send it to you like that, it's normally under £20 for 3 day service

That's a rather nice gear pump, do you think it would pump potassium glyc (for, say, a burner nozzle)?

Mahusive flame thrower for next years BBB ?

I dare say some kind of bypass valve might be required to not deliver 12lpm of glyc into the flame :)

To only success I've had with pumping glyc for a burner nozzle was with a car windscreen washer gear pump, but that kept slipping the gears on the motor shafts with liquid as dense as glyc.  I've also tried a dispensing machine vane pump (popped the front cover circlips off), so I've been hunting a small gear pump...

But, that said, with the house move and the work the new place requires, I very much doubt I'll have time to play with atomising burners for a while.

I know where it is... and I can see it... but I need to shift some stuff with the forklift to get to it... and need to shift a car to get the forklift in... and need to shift the van to shift the car

(car is on a trailer, van has no engine)

but.. I'm tidying up this weekend so will be able to get it out then no problem :-)
