Looks like fun! :D

That's brilliant! Made me laugh

Lynda has given me the strong impression that this might not be acceptable behaviour at the BBB ;)

Makes me laugh every time, I think it's them laughing their heads off afterwards ;D
-
That's proper funny. That's the biggest laugh I've had in weeks. Thankyou ;D
-
just seen this on FB, we gotto have a go aint we? come on
8)
-
Brill.Thanks.
That has got to be done ( with the proper adult supervision ) oh bugger looks like it's a no go already. ;D
-
I could do with a couple of them, set up around the perimeter.
-
I am convinced we can do better than that.
Instead of a dust bin how about two 205 ltr
drums welded to gether.
-
i have a couple of tins of calcuim carbide
this is what we want

calcuim carbide, spot on!

Lynda has given me the strong impression that this might not be acceptable behaviour at the BBB ;)
I'm sure we could persuade her, got a month or two!
-
i could always drop it in some water and use it to "help" dismantle the coach. after i have moved that is. would at least save me having to remove the windows by hand at least.
-
Breaking news: Lynda says it's OK so long as we have a litter picker and don't mess up the field (presumably referring to scattered litter and/or body parts).
-
It made her laugh when i read that out TonY!
and she says yes to clearing litter and definitely NO body parts! now the boys can play with their toys
-
Nice one Lynda.
As Head Womble I'll start the litter picking.

Not so fast, we need a sacrificial womble to "ride the cannon".
-
body parts will be fine down here. give the cats and foxes a change of diet. rabbits and rats gets a bit boring after awhile.

I get first ride, well you should have said earlier.

We have our own Womble to clear up, that'll keep the little scrote out of our hair for a few hours.

If Tony has his way it'll be you lot clearing the Womble up, not the Womble clearing up after you lot.
Ps. I have a TV at my place, just need to get it to Chug before Thursday

You're not going to forget it AGAIN are you?

Meeting Chug tomorrow, I'll also give him the bits you sent me ( - the FPR's as I couldn't find them in the dark).

I like those flying drums in Bob's you tube link, but would probably ending flattening someone with the limited space I have, but I might have to do one when nobody else is around!
Anyway I think a cannon is possible if aimed carefully!
does it work, does it need much prep, or can we knock it up easily as long as we have a dustbin?

I think you just drop some calcium carbide in a pot of water at the bottom of a bin with an 'ole in, and hold a flame to the hole to light the resulting acetylene.
Launching heavy things probably not wise given the people and cars about, but it would be cool to get a decent BOOM :)
These guys seem to have made a party of it!

I have some carbide here. I'll make sure it comes down with me on the Friday night. Maybe have a trial run on Friday before the day visitors arrive on Saturday.
I've got a small supply of Calcium Hydride as well if anybody wants to try some hyrogen experiments!

that looks a lot safer, well a bit anyway. would love to do that down here, but the last time someone had a private firework display at a wedding down here the explosions set off the lifeboat alert and my mate who i was visiting at the time was out the door and in his car before he realised what it was. not a popular thing to do around here. marrons and homemade explosions don't mix this close to the sea.

Is there really one of these down your way? I need some stainless tubing, 3", 4" and may be some 5"& 6". Half a meter or a meter if they have some. If you see any let me know.
Cheers

There is one 2 miles from our house. What they have is what they have though, you really need to go and peer through their stock unless it's a standard item, and from what I've seen most of it is mild steel.
What wall thickness are you after?
Aside from little one offs I get my steel from FH Brundle, it comes in only 7.6m lengths but it's a lot cheaper per meter if you're after a load of box or angle, and they will cut it down for collection (at a cost).
-
Anything over 1mm is fine, its for the jet engine project!

I've got about a metre of 6" double skin, stainless steel flue liner. Yours if it's any good to you.

The 4 tennis balls I've just found in the garden are approx 6.5cm in diameter. All four could be brought along for fun and games. ;D

Just been to Wickes and was walking round when I noticed that they had some of the old galvanised, dustbin type incinerators. You know the sort with a stubby chimney in the lid.
Couldn't help thinking ... fix the lid down, nice large combustion chamber and built in barrel. A bit too big for a tennis ball, but may be a half deflated plastic foot ball.

I think we could have some fun with one of these
http://www.wikihow.com/Build-a-Trebuchet-%281-Meter-Scale%29
Maybe a 1/2 or 3/4 size so we don't through anything out of the field.
For night time amo think tennis balls soaked in petrol (kept well away from the tents).

Ooooooooooooooo! What a good idea, I'm gonna build on that throws WOMBLES feckin' miles.

I love trebuchets. Some thing that is always in the planning, and never gets built.
They are one of the few military weapons that can cause an almighty amount of damage, are supposedly pretty accurate, once you get used to using them, and are perfectly legal to have sitting in wait.........

A favourite in caving club huts was rolling carbide bombs into the visitors bunkroom in the early hours of the morning.
2 litre PET coke bottle, half a dozen lumps of carbide in the bottom, a good slug of water, screw the top on then roll into a room full of sleeping people.
Seconds later is a big BOOM followed by lots of awake people :)
It is surprising how much pressure a PET bottle will take and how loud a bang it makes when it ruptures full of pressurised acteylene.
I must admit that I did climb out the window and hide one night when I heard the words "Cool, I have found a screwtop GLASS bottle"

I'm not sure why but I get the impression that you'll still be using the night time petrol method.

Im not shure which is the most preferable A WOMBLE FLINGER using a mehanical method or my personaly preferd option
A WOMBLE fiering carbide cannon.
I am torn between the two metods or of feeding the foxes in the wood at the botom of CHUGS field .
Maybe the Womble would have to be dismemberd before packing into a carbide cannon or build a smaller canoon and take more shots ,
to distribute the WOMBLE over a larger area .
The same goes for the WOMBLE FLINGER a flinger to chuck a full sized womble is probably uneconomical but a smaller one could hurl individual bady parts
is within the realms of posibility .
COMMENTS PLEASE

I've been building the trebuchet today and it's almost finished.
I'm sorry Jerry but it's not big enough to throw an entire womble.

Which bit of a womble will it throw? ;D

All of it, just not in one go.
