My new processor is nearly finished and have mocked up (but could well be mucked up) the pipework layout. I am too much of a luddite to post pictures here, but would be happy to mail them to somebody who has the necessary skills, and would appreciate any comments on the proposed set-up.
-
Email them to me, I'll happily make constructive comments and then post them on here so everyone can have a laugh!
Seriously though, Chug, some years ago started a thread on the VOD "Don't be afraid to admit your mistakes". That started an avalanche of people posting stuff, most of which were really silly, embarrassing mistakes. I learned as much from that thread as I had reading numerous "look what I've managed to do threads".
Publish and be damned. You'll be far better of with a collective answer than just one.
-
Many thanks Julian, 'preciated! Can you pm me your email address? And yes, I am expecting some ribbing...........
-
You should be able to pick it up from my profile, or you could send them via Skype if you use that, details alos in my profile.
-
Oily....try this. I helped someone on the VOD with this same problem:
Go to tinypic.com
The" upload Images and video's" page should come up.
Click the browse button. This will give you access to all your files.
Once you find the photo you want click "open" and the image details will be transfered to the file box on the tinypics page.
In the file type:
Image
Video
url
In the Resize box click the drop down list and select Message Board (640x480)
Click "upload now"
Follow the anti spam instructions....usually type in what you see on the screen and click "up load now".
Copy the IMG code forums and message boards (second one down) and paste that code into your post on the forum. The photo comes up....as if by magic!
If you're on Chrome it may be an issue......if you're on Firefox it wont be.

Nige, many thanks, but I have lost count of the times that this has been explained to me and have tried to master it. I just don't get it. I can't do it. I am a failure. No matter what I do, it doesn't work for me. I know it's me, but it's where technology & me part company. Sometimes, one has to understand that there are things beyond our capabilities, and this is one of them for me. I can happily bore the arse off you about Latin noun declensions, but upload pictures from another site?.......nah........
-
Nick ... got the photos ... Ha, ha, ha, haaaaaaa !!!! Seriously, there's no reason not to put them up, looks pretty good at first glance. I'll host them up as suggested by Nige ... by the way, what material is the processor tank made of?
Nige, if you don't mind can we elaborate on your instructions with a few screen grabs ... A picture speaks a thousands words. We could either make it a sticky on the forum or do a wiki page. Personally I think a wiki page might be best. Perhaps combine it with a how to page on uploading photos for the wiki too.
-
come on dont keep us in suspenders :D
-
Cheers Julian! The tank is papier mache, or stainless steel, I can't quite remember which. I'm kinda hoping it's SS. It cost me 200 bucks, so let's go with SS.

If you know how to do screen grabs then be my guest.....me, not a scooby doo!
I do know that that the guy who I was helping could not use the instructions I posted because he used Chrome as his borwser. As soon as he downloaded Firefox it was all plain sailing.

Can't you see them?

Yeah, it's really tricky, Nige. Only highly experienced programmers can do it ...
On your keyboard you have a button "Print screen" usually above the home, end delete group. Press that then go to your favourate graphics package, or "Paint" or even MS Word and click paste ... but don't tell everyone, 'cos they'll be a clever as us then!
-

Can't you see them?
No, no pictures of pipework or Paul in suspenders.

Are you and Paul in the super elite group or just standard, pleb members?

This is what i send out to VOD members
Put your picture into "my pictures" then go to a host like http://www.photobucket.com

then paste into your thread
For an avatar upload your pic in 160 x 120 or 100 x 75,(alter using “customize upload options” size you can use will depend on the site) then as above but then click on "direct link",it will say copied
then paste in sig box in edit profile
then click edit profile button

So which is better, tinypic or photobucket? For the purpose of this exercise we want the one that is simplest to use.
I use my own webspace, so don't use either and welcome opinions before I go ahead.
-
Uploaded to tinypic ... seems really easy. The security question is a bit annoying, but here are the first two. Pudding's ready (don't normally get a pudding), so I'll up load the others after pudding and take some screen grabs at the same time ...

They will probably have signed up before they find they cant use it, just post the instructions up in a sticky, maybe RM can do one for imgshack?

The straight run from the pump to the reactor, what's on the end of it inside the reactor ?
I ask as the venturi should be on this run, not T'd off of it, as the T will reduce flow and have adverse effects of on the venturi.
A little tip is to pull the swept bends slowly, this stops the rippling on the inside of the bend.
What volume is the tank ?
-
venturi hieght is that ok there?
2 heaters isnt one abit high?
glyc take out can you get a bucket under tap/pipe?
site tube so you see level is over second heater and or float safety switch

Haven't a clue, not even sure if you need to with PB, just assumed you would have to, i think they are all pretty much the same tho

Just looked a bit closer, and I think you need to sign up to create albums etc. So I'm guessing without logging in you can upload photos but have to remember their URLs.

So can I, it looks like this, £1.47.9 per liter.

And to which Julian would you be refering? Other than a small layer at the bottom of my settling barrels, I have NO soap.

Good.
I've posted my method of soap recovery in the super elite secret section.
-
Other than a small layer at the bottom of my settling barrels, I have NO soap.
It's not big or clever to SHOW OFF y'know.
-
Don't worry Jim it probably just involves them bathing more regularly

Look, I've spent several days wrestling with 80 ltrs of the stuff trying to get it back to bio, having previously suffered weeks of derision instead of sympathy and support, so I recon I'm allowed to show off!

Never needed to sign up to tinypics.
I think that Tinypics and photobucket are one and the same.

What volume is the tank ?300 litres.

i think your reply is missing? from this quote you made....

My that is a big one you've got there!
The venturi should be fine on the tee'd off section as there is plenty of straight pipe before it for the liquid to settle down into a laminar flow. On my processor it is also teed off the main loop with a good run before it, and that pulled near perfect vacuum with water :)
The only thing I would say is that there is quite a height of liquid after the venturi, this back pressure may well kill the venturi's performance. It would benefit form being up higher, right before the discharge bend.
That has the additional benefit that if the pump stops during demething, the processor won't drain out of the venturi port (it's good practise to loop any pipes on the port side above liquid level anyway, just in case...)
-
Also, given the weight of liquid inside in combination with the vessel, are those legs up to keeping it upright? It looks a little... unnerving, if you know what I mean?

Thank you Tony. I put the venturi there as I thought that there had to be a reasonably long straight run after it.............and yes, will loop the pipes to above the liquid level.

I thought exactly the same when I first saw the frame, but I have been assured that it is man enough for the job.
-
I dont much like the look of those legs either. If they were straight, then no problem, or even if they were gusseted. What would worry me is that they are not going to slowly bend, they'll be fine on second, then just collapse. They would make me nervous.
-
OK my 2 pence worth.
The venturi is on the wrong line, that T will kill the flow, it should be on the direct pipe and the eductor on the T'd off line.
The eductor feed should be as close to the tank return as is practical to reduce to a minimum any dead areas of wvo.

Thank you Jim. I thought that it was more important to have a straight & unhindered feed to the eductor, but it is simple enough to change. I don't quite understand what you mean by 'the eductor feed should be as close to the tank return'......

I'm assuming you have an eductor on the end of one of those pipes, if not then why do you have two feed lines?
