The dregs.
« on: August 12, 2022, 04:25:20 PM »
Using those odd bits of svo.

I was wondering what is the best way to process a mixed lot of oil.

Assume you have been tidying up and have poured all the dregs from a dozen containers into one.  You now have a grotty mess that you know does contain a fair bit of usable oil.

I would first rough filter it.

But then what ?

Seems a shame to waste it.

Maybe a tutorial on this would be useful.

Dave.

I would mix it with some Glycerine preferably at a warm temperature (maybe just leave it the sun wrapped in a black bin bag in this weekend). That should remove most water and much of the BCBs etc. once settled it should be easy to get the good oil off the top along with any fats that you want to process etc. If the glycerine used is quite fresh then some conversion may have already taken place thining the oil/fat. If the whole container is warm much of the fat may have melted into the oil.
