What are the differences in quality if any between Biodiesel produced using the 2 feedstocks???

I appreciate the difference in colour but are there any other differences i.e. with the quality of the resulting Biodiesel?

If the bio is well made there shouldn't be any difference in respect of usage.

However the resultant biodiesel will always contain esters of the original fatty acids, so if the feedstock had a high % of animal fats etc the resultant bio will never be as good in terms of temperature resistance.

It is also a bit of an 'overkill' making bio from new oil. I blend in about 20% to my oil, but only because I am a bit hyper about the finished colour. I then leave it in the sun to lighten. A cubie of it looks very similar to kerosene.

A little strange I know, but that probably goes for most of us!
