i am building a filter that needs an overflow to relieve pressure on the system if the filter gets blocked. the idea is to have a tube just under the filter mesh with a tube to the outside world that the excess oil will flow up if the filter gets blocked. according to the name plate the head of a tam 105 is 35metres. of course i cant have a tube that long. i have had a quick look at some sites to try and calculate the length of tube i need but haven't got very far.
some rough figures of the setup. 200 litre drum with the pump on the top. pump inlet in the drum about a foot from the bottom of the drum. filter inlet around one foot higher than the drum filter relief pipe 6 inches higher than the inlet. filter outlet a couple of inches higher than the relief pipe. all the pipework is 15mm.
anyone give me an idea of how long i need the relief pipe?
