Is anybody making a batch anytime soon. I won't be making any til next weekend probably and will be trying out a new twist on current methods. If anyone wants to try it out let me know via the message service and I'll let you know what it involves. I don't want to discuss it in the open forum as I've not tried it myself.

Hi Nige, yes probably within a few days mate, drop me a PM :)

Hi Nigel
I could maybe have a small go on the bench , is it chemistry or process that is the twist

Damn, just drying a batch now so too late. I will do another next weekend though.
-
The only reason I don't want anything published openly, is that the possible change in chemistry is not my idea and I've not trialed it myself. If I had and found positive results then I would not have any problems in opening it up for discussion.

Jules, Julian, Carrington, Tony, Keith and Will.....you all have messages

Negative results are equally worthy of discussion though.

Been so long I can't remember ... I loose all my tools this way.

Um, maybe I should just drop it on your doorstep, ring the bell and drive off.
I don't need to see the reunion of a man and his tool, that's the sort of stuff that nightmares are made of.

just knowing where they are is enough :)

No, he'll have them on ebay as soon as he thinks I've forgotten about them.

I'll be weighing them in.

has anyone tried the technique yet?
I did tonight.
I glyc washed 160lt of pretty good oil.
I mixed 3.2lt of ASM and made up to 21lt with methanol and mixed for an hour.
I did a 90/10 and got just 0.6ml drop out.
Dropped the glyc and mixed it all up again.
Got 0.5ml drop out! :(
Mixed up another 0.3lt of ASM an 1.5lt of methanol and got a slightly hazy pass.
I was really hoping that the mix following the glyc drop from stage 1 would send the reaction to completion. Ah well!
Like Julian said earlier in this thread....negative results are worthy of publication and discussion too.

I tried it too. I made the first stage with the normal amount of chemicals then, after draining the first stage glycerol I mixed for an hour with no added chemicals. It made no difference at all - the fallout at the end was the same as at the start of the hour.
It took the calculated amount of second stage chemicals to get a clear pass.

I tried that earlier this year just after I started doing the 2 stage no tit, but to try and push a failed S2 forward.
As said, no dice. Worth a go for the small effort required.
