Probably not a good idea, but I was chomping on a Crunchie and idly reading the ingredients, noting one - E442.
A quick google brings up
Ammonium phosphatides, Emulsifier YN, Mixed ammonium salts of phosphorylated glycerides.
Manufactured either synthetically or from a mixture of Glycerol (E422) and partially hardened rape seed oil.
Used mainly as an emulsifier, to lower the surface tension of water so allowing the better combining of oils, fats and water, and as a stabiliser, to prevent separation.
Yum!

I think it's all the other things in what we call Glycerol that would put me off - like the unused catalyst, methanol, FFAs, soap and all sorts of BCBs

You can do whatever you like with it mate. Spread it on a slice of fresh bread if you want. :P
Seriously, I've heard cows love it, but there is a ban on feeding it to them. Something to do with BSE. Its a bit daft, because the glyc that caused BSE was made from animal products. Isn't glyc the same stuff they use to make jelly?
And yeah, the glyc itself is probably fine, its just the other bits in it.

Its giving me second thoughts about using my home made soap ;)

Gelatin is used to make jelly
I have heard that to much water and caterlist will do a good job as well

So it seems the bacteria used is a strain isolated from the faeces of an infant... nice. Not actual faeces though thankfully! Not that I feel the urge to eat the stuff now anyway.

Saves having to dispose of it I suppose. lol
