What does the panel think?
I'm running low on 99% 2-EHN & was wondering before reordering if I actually need it. I was told when I started that I did & TBH I have just accepted that as gospel & continued to buy it. I add about 35-40 mills to each 25L container of well made BD as the v. last step of the process.
Does anybody make BD & who DOESN'T add 2-EHN? Or is there anybody who used to use it who has given up?

Never used it run two 2lt hdi motors with no problems.

I tried it years ago. Did not notice any difference, so gave up!

Never used it have run Delica and Octavia for years. Bio for 15 years.

I know this is largely just chit chat & the answer to the next question kinda depends on where the cetane rating is starting from on the finished but untreated with 2-EHN fuel, but could one of our chemists explain what the difference between running with & without 2-EHN should be & what difference it should/would make to the way a car drives?

I'm not a chemist neisel but have a chemical background. The 'nitrate' word at the end of 2ehn is the key. when the nitrate grouping (NO3) splits during combustion it liberates 3 atoms of oxygen. As the combustion process in a diesel is quite inefficient these atoms of oxygen combine with some of the unburnt fuel and the 'burn' is more complete, creating more pressure and therefore more power.
Yes, there is a difference and I notice it. I don't use it in my 1.9 Renault traffic as its so economical anyway. However the Touareg is really thirsty and though I don't need the power the 2ehn gives me a little more mpg, from about 22 to 24.

My car is a Mercedes W202 C250 TD, which has an OM 605 engine with 5 cylinders, 4 valves and an intercooled turbo. I imagine this breathes pretty well so I'm leaning towards not continuing with the 2-EHN experiment. I've got a couple of litres left so I'll try decreasing amounts of the additive until it's all gone to see if there's a point at which I notice a difference & then re-evaluate.
