I understand how to derive the quantity of unprocessed oil but can't for the life of me find the relevant information on what quantities of chemicals need to be used to reprocess. Is it simply a case of:
quantity of unprocessed oil x (base + titration value) added to methanol equal to 20% of the unreacted oil
Therefore for a 21% fallout from 10/90 test from a batch of 130 litres that initially titrated at 8 I would need to add 431g of KOH to 5.46 litres of methanol to react the remaining 27.3 litres of WVO???
Do you use the initial titration value of the oil prior to the reaction?

you assume, after you have processed the initial stage, that the titration is zero (ie you assume that all the FFAs have been neutralised)
in laymans terms, you just use the base value for the second stage. most would consider that to be 7g ltr for koh
so, 2.1ml fall out from the 10/90 would be 21%
21% of your 130ltr batch would be 130 x 0.21 = 27.3 ltrs unconverted.
so 191.1 g koh

one thing to be sure of -
the volume on s2 - its not how much oil you initially loaded, but what the level is after youve done s1, and removed the glycerol.

No, it shouldn't be, but you may need to let the finished product settle for an extended period or be very careful how you wash.
Tony used to (not sure if he still does) overdose intentionally, so he'll be better qualified to give advise.

Well all appears to be well. Got a perfect pass with the 10/90 and 5 water washes later water is clear and I'm now drying.
Hopefully in 2hrs I should have some excellent quality fuel. Thanks for your advice and next batch I will follow it exactly.
