Title: processing palm oil / lard
Post by: willbuild on May 22, 2014, 08:50:28 AM
I have about 80ltr of solids which i assume is palm oil? or should i process mixed 50/50 with rapeseed?
If i process only palm oil i assume that it will return to solid at around 20c

Pretty much right yes.

The higher the proportion of palm, the higher the cloud point of the product.

I cut with about 70% clear oil and I'm good down to about 0 degrees.

On the odd occasion that I do process solid palm I use 20/80% liquid.

Bio made from Palm oil that is solid at 20c will normally be good down to around 5c without problems.
