Title: Will glyc return to liquid with heat?
Post by: greasemonkey on December 09, 2013, 02:12:43 PM
As the title. Glyc from an ASM batch has gone solid. If I heat up the oil, and tip it in, is it likely to go liquid. I want to do a glyc prewash. It's non demethed glyc.

Yes, you'll find all those solid containers of glyc you stacked in the winter will all start leaking come the summer months ;)

My ASM usually stays liquid with some extra reclaimed meth in but the last lot was pretty sludgy when I came to use it over the weekend.

However I purposely leave a 30 litre tub with 10 litres free space to add in oil that is 60 degrees, give it a stir for 10 or 20 mins and it melts away

I've found thaat my non-demethed stage one glyc remains liquid albeit a bit thick but my when used for a glyc wash it sets like a brick. However, the brick glyc will return to liquid after being "turked!"

This stuff has gone like a stiff sponge. Turk threw a wobbler, and it's going to take as much time pratting around getting that going, as it will to put the finishing touches on my latest burner, so I'll do that. If all goes well, I might have at least glyc washed by the end of tomorrow.

In this weather after the gly wash you need to either go straight to the first stage reaction,
or keep going back and draining the gly every 20 mins or so until no more comes out, if you don't you'll end up with the pipework and bottom of the reactor blocked solid.

You have been warned.
