Title: No Tit method Phone App ???
Post by: Stumpy on August 17, 2013, 12:11:56 PM
Just wondering if any of you clever chaps or chapeses out there have made an App for mobile phones for the No titration method, as its not always easy to get to a computer when half way through a batch.

Ive NO IDEA where to start, or what to do, so please dont say make one yourself..

Possible but a fair bit of work. Can't you use your phone browser to use this page?

I think you can print Wiki pages?
Stick 'um up somewhere, and buy a cheap calc.

I wouldn't use my mega strong, mega basic phone for a calc, let alone something that could run an app. I'd get it covered in all the ingredients, and probably end up dropping it in the reactor..........

Also my feelings exactly.  My last two shed calculators have melted or cracked - best leave the smart phone out of it!

Calculator work -

Say if there is 1ml of drop-out on the 90/10 test, you times by 0.1
If there is 0.5ml you times by 0.05
If there is 5ml you times by 0.5

etc.etc.

if you want to work out 80% you times by 0.8

Its not complex maths.  I generally do the numbers in my head, rather than use a calculator, and im not even that great at maths.

If youre using sodium, then the 5g thing is easy - times by 10 (ie add a zero) and then halve it.

If it helps, all the calcs are in the javascript on this page (look at the source):

Thanks. When I get some time I'll look into it. Been thinking what I can make an app for and this seems perfect. I have a few other biod related items I could add in, like a  list of users cars and their experiences etc.

Could someone start a poll to see how popular the idea would be? Perhaps on here and in vegoildiesel?

The only problem with a phone AP is you need one of those new type phones,
mine is far from that, and I'll not be changing it unlike you lot when the screen breaks, again.

Ha! No it won't work on old phones. You will just have to stick to the website or a trust casio calculator :)

P.s. I had an iPhone for 2 years, 18 months of which it had a broken screen. I now have a samsung that I've had for around 6 months. I cracked the screen in the v first week of having it. It will stay that way for atleast the next 18 months.

How does that happen?  I've had smart phones for years, I think I abuse them but never a cracked screen!

my iphone fell face first off a toolbox in my garage from approximately 1 foot in the air, shattered the bottom 1/4 of the screen. My Samsung fell out of my pocket when I was chasing my lad on one of his mates push bikes (acting a prat), hit the floor pretty hard and has a slight crack bottom left of the screen!

If I were to use the calculations on the calculator on this site, who would I need to ask permission and/or give credits to??

They are repairable you know.

I fixed my Samsung with a cracked screen bezel. Worked just fine with it, but it caught on my pocket lining.

£14 on eBay for the bits, 20 mins to swap them over. Small and delicate work, but nothing impossible.

I concidered repairing myself 15 quid for the bits and a hair dryer to warm the glue to remove the screen. If I was going to do there's a shop not fat from me that will do it for 40 quid all in.
