Kerosene in mini digger
« on: March 25, 2026, 09:47:32 AM »
Got my jcb3cx stuck in mud... digging it out with mini digger and it ran out of diesel :-(

Didn't fancy the drive to petrol station covered in mud so syphoned some kerosene out of out heating oil tank and used that... runs just fine but I'm pretty sure its not oily enough long term?

Will a bit of veg mix in ok?  Anyone know what kind of mix is needed?  10%? 20%?

Hadn't thiught of using kero before... thinking might do the same in the 3cx next time it needs filling... 3cx had a bad case of diesel bug whwn we got it so im a bit more worried about that, I've been putting diesel bug killer and a bit of methanol in with every fill

10% should be fine. I used to run my old Ransomes 5 gang mower (Kubota 2.0 engine) on 50/50 kero and bio, it ran great for years until the drive pully on the hydraulic pump came loose.
