Well, they're £350 new, and multistage with stainless impellers, so it's not unreasonable. They push a lot of pressure so great for venturis and educators - the only catch is that they are closed impeller so the oil being processed has to be filtered.  I think they're great, seem quite happy pumping oil at over 100C.

I appreciate that it's only 1/3 of the consumpion of a frankenpump (TAM 120) but it doesn't really compare. Over 1 1/2 hours processing the extra cost would be about 18pence.

The head on the 120 is 65 metres and with an unmodified 1/2" eductor mine pumps at 71psi. someone on VOD calculated the nozzle velocity at 28 metres/sec. It was a bit risky at that pressure so from Jims' advice I drilled it to 8.5mms, now it pumps at 31psi with oil and 28psi with bio.

There is a slight efficiency gain as the fluid kinetics heat the oil without the immersion.

Ah yes, granted on the leccy cost.  At the time I first got one of those pumps I was running on a 13A extension lead so immersion+pump amperage was a consideration.  Then we fitted underground SWA cabling and a 32A commando, which made a big difference.

Then I moved house - back to the 13A extension lead again until we sort the electrics out!

Can you wrap the lead round the processor for added heating?

It's chilly in the garage so I wrapped it around my legs.  Health and safety first, can't be having cold calf muscles!

Yep they're the ones, it was previously listed at a higher price so it is tempting... but I've already got a good collection so won't be adding to it!

Are the end fittings plastic or painted black steel?

Anything plastic isn't likely to last, of course - not sure how useful having two pump heads is either (trying to think of an application for that!)

The black ends are plastic.

I don't know what to do with it either. I saw it at a carboot sale for a fiver.
