This looks like fun.  A vacuum cannon ....

We'd need it bigger, much bigger.

I have a small vacuum pump (if it still works) or Frankinpump can pull about 27" Hg on my venturi.

Is a clear tube and vacuum pump a good idea at the BBB, just the what knighty would do with it.

I have two fridge vacuum pumps / compressors and a LPG tank that will hold a vacuum
is that any good for a start.

Also ten air bags in stock waiting for ideas can have over fifty for the next BBB.

Sounds like a great start!

Anyone any ideas on the physics involved ... I'm guessing the limiting factor is the vacuum which can be pulled, but a longer tube would store a larger (or is it lesser) vacuum and power the projectile over a greater distance.

The projectile could be a sealed fit in the tube and contain a NRV to let the vacuum to the front.

I've got a big vacuum pump in the garage somewhere from a machine we broke up at work.

I'll try and find it and get some specs next time I'm in there.

I have a similar on to that but it is better! Charge up a cylinder then fire it with a button. Used to use it with the kids to shoot at other teachers. Went down very well. Very easy to make if anyone is interested. Kids design and make the rockets to get as accurate as possible.
