Wow.  What a story.  You must have been exhausted after all that.

As JMG says next time I'm cursing being stuck on the hard shoulder waiting for recovery, I'll remember this thread...

And the moral of the story is DON'T buy a fecking Musso, they're as bad as a LawnRoamer.

But any LawnRoamer owner would not have had to undergo the perilous trip to get water. They would have been well prepared with water, oil, spares, tools etc expecting just this sort of thing to happen

Hey! ... you speak for yourself!

I think I might have a multi-tool thing in the glove box, but I haven't used it since I got the Discovery.

Does anyone keep gloves in their glove box these days?

But you have used a socket set to have the head off the engine a time or two   ;)

That's quite a tail of adventure, made me smile a few times (at your expense of cause).

Now us LawnRoamer owners would never of been in that situation due to the many nessersery checks we do before every journey.

Yeah, OK, there was that.

It drove home once with no water, towing another Disco (no tools required, just a new head on arrival) and got towed home once by the Disco it towed previously (still no tools required).

Hey! ... you speak for yourself!

The only pre-journey check I do is that it starts.

In the case of a RangeRover, the more important question is whether you need to get another batch of fuel on the go for anything other than a quick trip to the shops

My last weekend was entirely taken up by doing feck all, it's taken all week to get over it.
