Computer log on help needed
« on: July 26, 2014, 09:47:28 PM »
We have a new member "Bluebio" who is unable to log on, we have checked his account and both me and Tony can log in to the account, so we are pretty certain its a problem at his end.
Is there any body with more computer knowledge than me who is willing to have a chat with Phil (Bluebio) and suggest a few things to check?
BTW he is running Windows 8
PM me your number and i will pass it on so he can ring you

It's only the great apes and lower life forms who have less computer knowledge than you, but if Tony's had a look at it and can't suggest a solution at Phil's end then there's not much hope for the rest of us.

Best possible advise would be to ditch Windows 8 ... is pants!

I can normally log in on my laptop which runs windows bloody 8 running in desktop mode ...what's Phil seeing when tries to log in?

It's rather a long shot, but it would appear that Phil has the same IP address as Tony ...  192.168.X.X

Don't know if that's even possible ... is it?

If I search for Bluebio and click the link to his IP address, it brings up a load of stats for Tony, including ... Password incorrect - tony ?action=login2,  on the 24th July.

Perhaps if Phil switched his router off and on he may get a different IP address if it's not fixed.  Further than that I'm lost.

Would that have anything to do with Tony logging into Phils a/c to check it was working ok?

Honestly don't know.  Can you ask Phil to let us know his IP address?  Just type "what's my IP" into Google and click a link.

If his IP isn't the one in the post above, we could try deleting the account completely and get Phil to try a fresh.

Ive just logged in and it now shows my IP, Phil has tried two different account names and then i deleted them and set this one up.
Do you still want his IP?

Ah, I'm guessing it shows the last used IP address then ... bang goes that idea!

Might be worth checking his IP against the banned list ... 2nd page is a list of IP addresses ... just possible it may work on a range either side of banned IPs.

Really clutching at straws now.
