In desperate need of some me time, and not really wanting to work in this brutal heat, I ruthlessly let down my faithful and trusting customers, and went and visited this place for the day.
http://www.internalfire.com/Mentioned in another thread, some time ago, I've been meaning to get there since I read about it.
Well worth the visit. For sure, your not going to spend all day there, but if your interested in looking at big old diesels, with big old generators attached, then there is an hour or two to be spent, or a lot more if you end up chatting to the owner.........
He also has some smaller diesels, a good couple of different listers, and some unusual and rare diesels, some with gennys, some without.
A lot of them are really big, ship engine size, 15 or more foot long, and equally as high. Impressive beasts.
All in all, for the £6 entry fee, it was well worth the journey.
This guy needs visitors. He's got a great setup, and is doing quite a commendable thing restoring and preserving these engines, which could well otherwise be scrapped, but I think he's struggling to get peeps through the door.
I took about 50 pamphlets with me, and I'll spread them about to vintage and farmer types.
If it's quiet, he's quite happy to start up whatever engine you want to see running, and then talk all about it, over the noise of the engine........
If it's busy, him and his volunteers just start random engines anyway.
I have a few pictures, but the internet is so slow right now they won't upload.
Day was only spoiled by some numbskull in Newquay, saying to me, "Excuse me Madam, could I interest you in a boat trip?"
Next time I won't shave so tidily.
(I think he was actually selling boat trips, not giving me the come on.....)
