What diameter is a tennis ball, I'll get me down to metalsupermarkets for an offcut ;)

Is there really one of these down your way? I need some stainless tubing, 3", 4" and may be some 5"& 6". Half a meter or a meter if they have some. If you see any let me know.

Cheers

There is one 2 miles from our house.  What they have is what they have though, you really need to go and peer through their stock unless it's a standard item, and from what I've seen most of it is mild steel.

What wall thickness are you after?

Aside from little one offs I get my steel from FH Brundle, it comes in only 7.6m lengths but it's a lot cheaper per meter if you're after a load of box or angle, and they will cut it down for collection (at a cost).

I've got about a metre of 6" double skin, stainless steel flue liner.  Yours if it's any good to you.

The 4 tennis balls I've just found in the garden are approx 6.5cm in diameter. All four could be brought along for fun and games. ;D

Just been to Wickes and was walking round when I noticed that they had some of the old galvanised, dustbin type incinerators.  You know the sort with a stubby chimney in the lid.

Couldn't help thinking ... fix the lid down, nice large combustion chamber and built in barrel.  A bit too big for a tennis ball, but may be a half deflated plastic foot ball.

I think we could have some fun with one of these

http://www.wikihow.com/Build-a-Trebuchet-%281-Meter-Scale%29

Maybe a 1/2 or 3/4 size so we don't through anything out of the field.

For night time amo think tennis balls soaked in petrol (kept well away from the tents).

I love trebuchets. Some thing that is always in the planning, and never gets built.

They are one of the few military weapons that can cause an almighty amount of damage, are supposedly pretty accurate, once you get used to using them, and are perfectly legal to have sitting in wait.........

A favourite in caving club huts was rolling carbide bombs into the visitors bunkroom in the early hours of the morning.

2 litre PET coke bottle, half a dozen lumps of carbide in the bottom, a good slug of water, screw the top on then roll into a room full of sleeping people.

Seconds later is a big BOOM followed by lots of awake people  :)

It is surprising how much pressure a PET bottle will take and how loud a bang it makes when it ruptures full of pressurised acteylene.

I must admit that I did climb out the window and hide one night when I heard the words "Cool, I have found a screwtop GLASS bottle"

I'm not sure why but I get the impression that you'll still be using the night time petrol method.

Im not shure which is the most preferable A WOMBLE FLINGER using a mehanical method or my personaly preferd option
A WOMBLE fiering carbide cannon.
I am torn between the two metods or of feeding the foxes  in the wood at the botom of CHUGS field .

Maybe the Womble would have to be dismemberd before packing into a carbide cannon or build a smaller canoon and take more shots ,
to distribute the WOMBLE over a larger area .
The same goes for the WOMBLE FLINGER a flinger to chuck a full sized womble is probably uneconomical but a smaller one could hurl individual bady parts
is within the realms of posibility .

I've been building the trebuchet today and it's almost finished.

I'm sorry Jerry but it's not big enough to throw an entire womble.
