I've just been having a look at Skoda Octavia's and they're about the same price or higher than Passat's, WTF.
Skoda Yeti L&K 2L TDI 150 CR DPF Adblue, running pimp diesel.

I've also been looking at octavia estates. Surprisingly costly.

Nice motors, let down slightly by cheapo interiors.
I'm thinking of shifting mine. They are not big enough for 5.
Brewing bio. And still not breaking cars!

We have an 02 octavia L&K leather with heated seats etc. interior is fine. Nice car needs turbo cleaning occasionally to prevent limp mode.
Bio since 2007  running Delica and Octavia

Ah, that's worth knowing since there are five of us.

Re. Skodas, has anyone got experience with the sdi fabia? My swmbo is bending my ear for something big enough for the dogs and small enough that she can park it, and the fabia estate looks to me like it might fit the bill. On a different point, I bought a 1.5 corsa b at the weekend for my son to learn to drive in and so far it seems ok - so long as you stand well back and squint..

The 1.5TD Corsa is a cracking little car, well - more like a go-cart - and does good mileage on the fuel :)

It's not the TD - just a plain old D. Insurance for new drivers is insane but the D is only group 4. Mind you, it still goes along nicely enough and the boy's over the moon with it. I've got 120L of bio on hand from my first efforts at making bio to run through the corsa to begin with, and after that I'll get to use the new improved processor which now has an SHHE and a bit of plumbing to take the bio from the settling tank back into the processor so I can water wash and dry. I never got settling out the soap to work.  :P

I did my driving lessons and test in a Corsa D. I thought it was a bit lacking in power, but trundled along real good.
Indestructible little motor, as proved when I went from 4th to 3rd, instead of 4th to 5th, like I was supposed too........

It's only the HDI with Bosch system (Siemens doesn't have one), so not something you'll have to worry about.

Unless you feel the draw of the dark side that is.
