New rules to Waste Carriers License
« on: October 01, 2013, 07:28:52 AM »
hi all

anyone heard anything on this?

talking to a waste carrier of scrap cars last night he has the forms to fill in to apply for the new system, the old waste carriers license for him will be dead at xmas in december. he went on to say the things they now have to do to be legal.

give bank account details
take 4 pictures of car
picture of owner
picture of owners ID passport etc
pay by cheque
own a yard for storage

and many more things i forgot (i am getting old lol)

anyways his 2 yearly carriers is being scraped, is the waste carriers for veg oil going too?

Probably a casualty of the guys nicking the utilities/railway cables although I've read previously about people just lifting cars from drives etc and weighing them in.

Suppose it would depend how big a problem waste oil thefts became to the smooth running of the country.

I think it's just for scrap metal, new regs come in to force in Dec but my local yard has been doing photo id check and card payment only all year.
I haven't heard about anything for wcl for veg oil.

should be something about it on the enviroment agency's site. if there are any new rules?
I got my t19 in aug and with it came all the rules for storing oil, bio, chems and transporting. there was nothing new or changes for the near future.

All of that stuff with cars is the same as a private individual taking in scrap, a car etc.
They have to provide photo ID and address details. Payment is to a bank account as the yards are not allowed to pay cash for scrap.

As a carrier of scrap the person would have to comply with all of the above.

None of that applies to veg oil so presumably no change.
I only renewed my carriers licence in August and have not had any notifications from the EA about amendments, revokation or anything
