+1 for brazil

ive just remembered festen - a truely excellent film (although too dificult to call a 'favourite')

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festen

Really well worth watching.  An example of Dogme film making too, so unusual / novel production also -

Shooting must be done on location. Props and sets must not be brought in (if a particular prop is necessary for the story, a location must be chosen where this prop is to be found).
The sound must never be produced apart from the images or vice versa. (Music must not be used unless it occurs where the scene is being shot.)
The camera must be hand-held. Any movement or immobility attainable in the hand is permitted.
The film must be in colour. Special lighting is not acceptable. (If there is too little light for exposure the scene must be cut or a single lamp be attached to the camera).
Optical work and filters are forbidden.
The film must not contain superficial action. (Murders, weapons, etc. must not occur.)
Temporal and geographical alienation are forbidden. (That is to say that the film takes place here and now).
Genre movies are not acceptable.
The film format must be Academy 35 mm.
The director must not be credited.

That all sounds like useless art bollocks, but, again Festen is a very good film, and it all works very well.

wings of desire.
difficult to say "best film". think the worst one that i found particularly annoying to the point of never wanting to watch the damm thing ever again was independence day. much preferred the tim burton version mars attacks.

Aah I wanted to watch Looper. Will see if it is out on BR/DVD.

I dunno about BR, but I have it on DVD. Think it was £7. That is the most I will pay. Wait long enough and they all end up at £3 anyway.

It's well worth watching, it's a good film. Just maybe one that isn't going to age very well.

Who pays for films?? :o
hmmmmm
must be just me that refuses to be fleeced on films. :D

I could list a few good sites ;)

I've tried downloading them. Not happening. If I can download a 1 minute utube vid in less than 1 minute, my internet is running real fast.
