Metal paint @ Aldi
« on: April 12, 2013, 08:24:17 PM »
Before I forget, 1l of metal paint is currently £4.99 in Aldi, including black.

Claims two coat for protection, no primer required.  According to historical posts on the MIG welding forum it's way better than Hammerite.

Actually thinking of going back and buying more having read the reviews!

Just the one - though I'm wondering how far 1l will go over two coats?  The can says 13.5m2 as a single coat, two coats required so I'd say three to be sure (4.5 sq.m)?

Pipework, legs and welding on the new processor built.  It's a 500l steel tank so a fair area to start with.

I think i read a post from glycerides reporting that he had painted his processor in hammerite, but that it was NOT bio stable.

You are correct, Julian. It bubbles up as if coated with the old 'full fat' Nitromors.

On my 220L tank I used less than two small tins, ~ 375 mL.
Brewing bio. And still not breaking cars!

Well it's back in Aldi on Sunday, I think the stuff is absolute genius, and very good value.  No idea on the WVO/bio resistance but it's impossible to beat price-wise for metal protection.

I shall be stocking up, that's for sure.

Oh Tony, why did you post that up ... I just looked at the page and then clicked Sundays special buys.

They are offering an inspection camera endoscope type for £70,  Dilemma ... should I get one or not?

Will be getting some for sure - just been plumbing in the rayburn with black iron pipe, and our trailer is brown'er than it was when we bought it!

I'll be picking up some of the cutting/sanding discs too.

Julian I'm sure you really don't need to be looking up there, just stick with being a pumpophile!
