Pump question
« on: June 11, 2013, 08:32:04 PM »
I have a Pedrollo CKM90 and i need to find out how thick the gasket should be on the end cap that covers the impeller.
I know it needs one as its clamps the impeller solid.
I made a gasket from some thick material but i think the pump has loss pressure due to this.

So i need to find out how thick the gasket should be or where i can buy a replacement?

Can you put the end cap on and tighten it until it just touches the impeller then slacken it slightly, and then measure the gap with feeler gauges?

Its an idea, but trying to get square to measure it would be a bit fiddly as it has three bolts and the only way to know its touching the impeller is by running the motor as both ports are on the sides.

Could you spin the fan (may have to take off the cover) and feel for resistance?

Sometimes when it's only one side of the impeller binding, it helps to tap the driveshaft at the fan or impeller end to free it all up (screwdriver drift + hammer would be fine).

With my hammering skills there wouldn't be a pump left  ;D

Fixed it using a hammer and screw driver, doesn't need a gasket at all now ;D

What is the seal like?  I've just renovated a seal on a Mono MS if it's similar, you've got nothing to loose.
