Any objection on theme swap?
« on: July 28, 2011, 11:08:38 PM »
And objection if I make the default theme "headline" (check your profile) - I've trialled it for a couple of weeks with the veggy modifications and it works just great - much like the old theme we had did?

Is that the geryish one you suggested we try a little while back?  'Cos that's what I think I'm using at the moment.  Theme changes from blue to grey when I log in.  If so, I don't have any objections.

Yes it is grey maybe with a touch of green.  It fits with the wiki look and we've quite heavily customised it now :)  Ideally the theme is nothing you should really notice or care about, it shouldn't be garish or get in the way of the operation of the forum - I think we've achieved that.

That said, there are lots of themes for SMF, http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/ - if everyone likes one in particular then we're not adverse to changing it.

... we're not adverse to changing it.

Some of us (the grumpy ones) are.

What we have is good for all the reasons you list and more ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I do understand what you say, but nonetheless I've had a fiddle with the current theme, can you see the difference? (On every page)  8)

No, I can't ... but then you knew that would be the answer when you asked the question!

If by change you mean tweaks to the basic theme, as you've been doing, I'm all in favour.  However bright colours and alternative layout and operation would be a no no in my books.

In all fairness it was pretty subtle - the row of menu buttons at the top was 46 pixels high and is now just 36, fits the font size better.

Don't worry - no garish colours or outlandish themes are forthcoming.
