MSDS data sheet for Sodium Methylate
« on: September 16, 2012, 10:25:44 AM »
Having now completed the Wiki page for Methylate, I thought it would be a good idea to have a MSDS sheet for it.

I see that there is a standard format for the others (Methanol, KOH, NaOH etc). Would it be OK to copy and modify one of these? I can find the necessary info online from various suppliers websites but it is in a different format.

I see that the current sheets are produced with permission of Oxford University, as such, is there an issue with me using that format for a Methylate one or, can somebody get one from them for Methylate?

I think that's a question for Julian, who has handled all the MSDSs thus far.  Funny as I was just thinking we should add one :)

Just looked into it and this is the page that now comes up ...
=================================
December 2011

Please note.

The University of Oxford Department of Chemistry MSDS web resource is no longer being maintained.

Since this resource provided safety information it is not appropriate that the MSDS web resource is still used as a reference resource.

The manufacturers and suppliers have a legal duty to provide and maintain MSDS information for the chemicals that they sell.

Please refer to the suppliers web pages for safety information and data sheets.
============================

So I guess the way forward is to ask your supplier for the MSSDS and use the info thereon, crediting them for the information.

Shame about the University info.

It may be worth asking Nigel as he is in close contact with his supplier
