I managed to sell that horrible Citroen Berlingo and was paid in some of these. Legal tender here.

I bet the money for a van doesn't look like much when it's in £100 notes

A couple of years ago I was paid in £100 notes, I didn't know they existed, it was in Scotlandshire though.

I stopped for something to eat on the way home and tendered one of said notes, even the Scots didn't know they had such large denominations, l eventually got a meal after someone had made a phone call or two to confirm their existance.

Until I came up to your place I thought the world ended north of Norfolk.

I could do with a  stack of them.
Do you trust them though? I don't even trust 50s, and always break into a sweat spending 20s anywhere they scan them.
The safest thing to do seems to be to put them in the bank, they hardly look at them.

The only time ive ever been in bother with one was at the bank.

I wasnt there (my partner paying in) else id have queried it more - id liked to have had a good look, apart from anything else.

I wasnt all that upset - ebay sale, chap paid £700 in cash, and one £20 was bad.  I doubt he knew either, and my profit on the item eclipsed the £20 loss.

To be fair, I've never had any bother. I'm just paranoid. I've had a few customers, who pay me in cash, asking me what I knew about forged notes.
