Non overflowing wash tank
« on: July 27, 2011, 09:07:05 PM »
http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Water_washing
I use one of these myself but ive just tried to explain the "dimensions" to someone, the problem is that we all have a batch size and need to work back from that which these workings dont allow for
I explained it like this
Put in 15% of the drum capacity and mark where it comes on the tank (mark 1)
Add your batch size ie 125/150 lts and mark where it comes (mark 2)
measure between the two and divide by 1.14
the figure you get is how far up the tank from mark 1 you need to drill in the side of the tank,
I know this doesnt allow for the slight difference in density but does it make sense?

See what you mean, the dimensions on the drawing are sort of AAF!

What you describe sounds fine to me.  Why doesn't it take account of the density difference?  Isn't that what the 1.14 factor is doing?

Do you thinks there's a need to alter the page to make it clearer?

I guess it would help as its a bit of a non starter to alter your batch size to fit the wash tank and my explanation seemed to be understood first time
With the density i was confusing issue by just filling with water to get the two marks

I've always thought that this design had a big drawback in that you have to wash the same volume of bio each time.

Would an adjustable NOWT be of any benefit to you guys still in the bio dark ages ... I might have a plan!

As long as you go smaller the water in the bottom just takes up the slack

Ah, ok, I see.  So not too much of a problem then.  In that case I'll keep invention 3266a under wraps then.

Ok, added a bit to the page.  Is it comprehendible?
