F$%KING BUND !!!!

I bought a bund about 4 years ago... made for 2 IBCs, holds 1000litres

won it on ebay, paid more than I wanted to, but was perfect for what I needed so paid the extra

total pain in the arse getting it picked up from Cornwall and brought up to me, because it's wider than a normal pallet and a bit longer than 2 pallets

finally got it up here

then I built a 11mx6m steel framed building... leaving a perfect spot for the bund and a processor, under the roof of the building up against an existing wall

then I built a 9.7mx6m freezer in the building... leaving exactly 1.3m at the end for the bund (1.25wide)

finally, I move some stuff around, and get the bund out ready to go in that spot...


the old wall where I left the spot is wonky... I checked it at both ends to make sure it was square... but no, it's narrow in the middle, long ways and hight ways

bloody bund doesn't fit :-(

by about an inch, a bloody inch :-(


if I was any good at laying bricks I'd knock the wall down and make space

When we moved in here, the place had a downstairs bathroom.

...which was dry-lined. 

But the dry lining overlapped the ends of the cast iron bath. 

When i took off the drylining, i found that they had fitted a bath that was too long.   So they had hacked out some of the stone wall (well, some is a bit of an understatement), put the bath into place, and the propped up the rest of the wall on the corners of the bath. 

Then tries to hide the mess behind the dry lining.


Anyhow, the point to this tale -
 
You say that you need an extra inch.  But thats probably only for 60mm or so?  (ie the rim of the bund)

How thick is the wall?   And would it sustain grinding a 60mm channel out of it, 1 inch deep?

(at our place they had taken out about 5 inches deep, by about 12 high, but the walls are about 18" thick - still a mess, but you might be able to do it nicer without structural concern?)

can't take anything out of the wall... to get the bund to drop into position I had to lift it over the wall with the forklift and then 2 people on each end to grab it and lower it down by hand (or try to anyway)

can't slide it in from the end because there's a brick pillar on the wall and a girder in the way

good idea tho, I hadn't thought of that
