I reckon you'll find the people who slated this purchase on the VOD will do the same on here...seeing as how most of them are regulars on both sites.

Prepare yourself for incoming :o

What, complaining that we're not as aggressive?  I like to think we're just mellowed (many of us with age) and chilled.

Only red can be considered fine wine (white's for girlies) and you'd never chill it.

Agree on the red, white is for girls!

As for the etruk, people do use them but there is an inherent fire risk, and we have photos of several incidents where the element has melted its way out of the plastic, where, of course, the risk is it lighting meth fumes and the oil.

Please read this:

http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Processor_buyers_guide

The biggest issue is if you get a leak when it is heating unattended.  Then the element becomes exposed, gets hot enough to melt the surrounding plastic, then it can set fire to things.

If you watch it while heating then at least you should spot any leaks.

Alternatively fit a float/pressure level switch so that the immersion switches off if the level drops.  Both are detailed here:
http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Category:Processor_controls_and_instrumentation

A timer is a bad idea unless it's a countdown only timer.

The 24 hour timers are bad because of this:

- You set it to stop heating in an hour
- It stops, you process and drain the processor
- You forget to unplug the timer (everything appears off)
- In slightly less than 24 hours when the timer comes around to that hour period again, you hear an explosion in your shed (hot element in vessel full of old Methanol vapours)

This happened to fellow brewer in his garage. Made quite a mess.

A 24 hour timer can be made safe if you modify the internal wiring
so that the timer motor live is connected to the output terminal
then when the timed event is over power is removed from timer motor
and the motor will not run until you manually reset it
