Shed envy
« on: March 29, 2013, 05:29:35 PM »

I guess most of us have a shed in which we make bio or filter veg, a few will have an additional shed or workshop.  I thought I was quite lucky in having a reasonable workshop at the back of the garage, but this guy goes just that one step further!

I'm not at all jealous, no Sir, not one jot, no way, not in the slightest ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdCPovJznkI

Yeh Yeh Yeh, very nice but what does it tell you?

He does absolutely NOTHING in there, you can't make stuff with all that kit AND keep the place cleaner than an Operating Theater.

It's all BS.

No, I can't detect a hint of envy in any of the replies!

Probably have a bash at converting the on remaining batch of soap I've got in the next few days.

Anyhow, no, not board, it's a long story ...  I recently bought a band saw.  It's to do a job (that I've not yet been awarded), modifying some acrylic display mounts for a pilot project for Sears in the USA.  I'd previously done a small batch of 75, all cut by hand and then sanded on an attachment I made on the lathe and finally polished on a mop polisher kindly given to me by some generous tosser.

Anyhow, this time the job's for 800 pieces, so I thought I'd better get a bit more mechanised.  I've never had a band saw before and although I think I paid a little over the odds for it's age and quality, in conjunction with a jig I've made it will perform the cutting part of the job in a fraction of the time.  Now I've got one, I've realised a band saw is an incredibly useful bit of kit and may invest in, or make a better one at some point in the future.

Anyhow, knowing that it was a cheap make and model, I googled improving a bandsaw and came up with this guy (http://www.youtube.com/user/Matthiaswandel/videos) who's done a whole load of videos on workshop tools including setting up a cheap bandsaw ... you're probably sorry you asked now, aren't you?

Anyhow, whenever I go on you tube I always get distracted by other videos and end up watching for an hour or two.  This workshop tour was one of the recommended videos.  Sorry, but you did ask!
