Just a pre-warning, I'm going to take the server offline this evening because I'm worried about the reliability of the Seagate Pipeline HD.2 drives in it. I've seen a few failures so don't trust them much. Got some nice Western Digital Blues to replace them :)
-
The drive swap didn't go smoothly, back on the original drives - will try again tomorrow!
-
Well, I'm shocked ... I'd have thought if anybody could sort it ...
Is it just a matter of copying data from old to new and bolting them in, or am I looking at things in my usual, simplistic manner?
-
That's pretty much it, but I took the opportunity to resize some of the partitions on the newly copied disks, and I think that's where there were problems.
It takes a fair while to duplicate 1TB drives so just ran out of time to do it again.
-
Ah good, this explains why I couldn't connect yesterday evening, top man Tony
-
It will inevitably be down again today, this time I'll not be resizing partitions I think!
-
Good luck, hope it goes OK this time.
I'd offer to help, but the chances of me being any use are rather slim!
-
All done! :)

Which is more than can be said for yourself.

I'm glad that the first thing the new disks get used for is recording personal abuse for perpetuity. ;)

I thought that that was what they're for.
