I always struggle to read/remember how my conical centrifuge tube is calibrated. So I've done this little sketch which I have now pinned on the shed wall.
Sorry, my graphics package seems to be playing up at the moment and it just crashes when I try and export to a bitmap, but I've managed to make a .pdf file. Please feel free to print out a copy if you'll find it useful.

Tony ... do you still have Inkscape? If so can I send you the Corel file and see if you can export it in .png format for upload to the wiki?
-
Still do yes, chuck it on over.
-
Ta, sent.
-
Not received - how big was the file?
-
Strange ... it was 10 meg but it had quite a high res photo on it so I though I removed the photo, but I've just checked the size again and it's saying 11 megs!
I'll have another go.
-
Just resent ... say it's 20Kb
First one's just bounced back, doesn't say why.
-
Got it
-
It doesn't render properly in inkscape, it's missing the text. I'll update inkscape and try again.
-
if you get stuck, i could probably do it not much slower than making this post : /

Have you got CorelDraw, Julian?

I just use free online conversions a lot of the time, eg -

-
The printer that i used to use does corel draw stuff, but it hurts my brain. Its like some sort of pretty CAD with all the irritations added.
The amount of bother i have with people sending me Illustrator exports... ugghh...
-
Updated Inkscape has the same problem. I think Julianf is onto something there though!
-
Thanks Julian,
Many people don't like Corel, but I've known it since it first came out. It was my first venture into computing ... many, many years ago and using it is now like second nature, although I'm stuck on version 10!
Very impressed with that converter, I'll keep it bookmarked, if my version of Corel has got corrupted I may need it!

Agh, slow typing on my part again! I think the converter may be my only of exporting files from now on!
Julian, now you have it as a .png, would you mind uploading it to the wiki please?

Tried, and failed -

How did you try to upload? This should be the method (sorry if I'm teaching my Grandmother to suck eggs) ...
You need the pictures on your computer. Give them a descriptive name (not, for example, what a camera names them ). Log on to the wiki and go to "Upload file" in tool box on the lefthand side of the page.
Click "Browse" and locate the photo on your computer in the new window and double click it. Click "Upload file" and the job's done.
When it's uploaded you will have a screen withyour uploaded photo and above it "File:Your file name.jpg" Use the "File:Your file name.jpg" to put the photo on your page.
From the look of the error message, were you uploading direct from your PC?
-
yep, did all as you said, got the error code pasted above : (
-
hmm... just tried again, and getting -
A file with this name exists already, please check File:Centrifuge-graduations 50%.png if you are not sure if you want to change it.
...and then in the preview pane (which i assume is supposed to show the previously uploaded file?) -

its just the thumnail creation that's throwing the error, as here is the link to the full size file -

Oh, I had a play whilst you were having a play. I tried uploading a copy I downloaded to be told the file already existed. Found the file but it was just a grey box with the error message. So I deleted it ... let me try again. I'm wondering if having attached it to a post has messed things up.
-
That seems to have done it ... http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/File:Centrifuge-graduations.png
No idea what went wrong other than the wiki had already stored a copy when you attached it to your post. Then trying to upload the same photo caused an issue. Don't know ... all a bit beyond me.
Thanks anyway, Julian.

Those errors are a touch worrying as it should have just worked for JF.

Could JF having a % sign in the name have any effect?
