Title: Carwash chems
Post by: Tony on February 13, 2013, 11:51:24 PM
Was washing out some drums I picked up from the local carwash this evening (in the bath, don't tell the missus shhh) and saw that on the side of one that the primary ingredient was Potassium Hydroxide.  It carries the standard skin corrosion label on the side.

I've noticed before something of an overlap between biodiesel chemical supply and carwash chemical supply, one company I used to get all my Meth from a big part of their business was carwash chemicals.

I guess it makes sense, cleaning oils off things, and the margins must be better than with us homebrewers.

I used to make car/truck washes when I was production manager at a chemical company a few years back. Apart from the catalyst, be it potassium or sodium hydroxides, metasilicates or phosphates there any cross over ends.

I was involved with all sorts of specialised chemicals for all sorts of applications using solvents alcohols and aqueous products. Best job I ever had....but with the worst pay. Isn't that always the way. I suppose a chemical manufacturing company would have everything we need though.
