This is what I have so far.
http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Importance_of_venting_a_processer
Can someone spell check it for me please.
I'm struggling with the last section (positive pressure),
I don't want to get into exploding reactors as that's probably covered elsewhere and a vent will not stop this anyway.
Any ideas as to what else can be added.

looks good to me ,well done mark.
i will have to text over the art of esterification and get you to do a page on that.

the main processor pic is abit dogged ie: lines through it all over ?

You really need the spell the title correctly - it should be a processOr not processEr. As an editor I don't think that you can do this though. As such you will need a Wiki Admin (julian or tony for instance) to change it for you.
I have also corrected 8 or 9 spelling mistakes where I found them, flexAble to flexIble being the main culprit.
Don't take it as a criticism, it is great that you have joined the editing crew and the page is looking good so far.

Lookin' good. I've moved it to http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Importance_of_venting_a_processor

Hands up, the title was my mistake when I started the page for him.

Hmm, it might have screwed up when I exported it to png ... I'll have another go when I have time. If in the mean time it's downsized a bit the lines won't be as obvious.

Is there a difference between moving and renaming? Can't quite remember what I did, but last page I renamed didn't have the little "(Redirected from ..." text under the title.

Mark, I'll PM you with some suggestions tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks guys.
I'm lost without a spell check, believe it or not I think I did quite well, for me anyway.

I don't think so. You only see the "redirected from" if you visit the old page (spelt -er). If you visit the new page (-or) this doesn't appear.
Of course, the redirect is optional - in which case it'll ask you if you want to make a new page if you visit the old spelling (because it won't exist anymore).

You did!, good work

Ah, I see thanks Tony ... wondered why there was a difference.

Was that a clip top drum that imploded? I'm amazed it built up that much of a vacuum, without sucking air through the top. I suppose maybe once it had started to vacuum, then it helped hold the lid on. Still, I'd have expected the drum rim or lid to distort a little, before it squashed it like that.
Nice page by the way.

When I made my now infamous soap batches,
I pumped 200L of hot (60°) mayo into an empty 205 clip top and put the lid on to stop meth fumes from escaping.
As it cooled it sucked the lid down and distorted the drum, I couldn't get the lid off even when leavering it with a crowbar,
I then put a small hole in the lid with a 6" nail and the lid lifted off with ease.
So yes the lids do seal very well, even bettor with a small amount of negative pressure.

I had something similar the other day. I had some methanol delivered and left it outside for the night. In the morning I wheeled one drum, complete with a coating of frost into the workshop so I could make some bio.
No matter how hard I tried, I could not undo the 2" or 3/4" bung on the drum. I tried a basin wrench, piece of steel with a couple of bolts, all sorts of things that normally work fine.
In the end and a bit short of time, I took to drilling a small hole through the centre of the bung (slowly and rather nervously with plenty of oil on the bit I hasten to add - hoping that the oil would keep temps down and there would not be much in the way of Oxygen inside the drum with the methanol).
As soon as the bit was through, there was a dramatic flow of air through the hole into the drum. Once that stopped I was able to undo the bung as normal.
I can only presume that they were filled a somewhat higher temperature than I was trying to open them at and the resulting cooling of the vapour had caused a pressure drop.

Jules, I use a small bit of 50 x 20 box section, a big pair of adjustables and bruit false.
Works for me.

Every drum I have used I have managed to open simply enough with a basin wrench. Just this one that I couldn't get open by any means. Hence my assumption about the cold
-
Another way is to pour a kettle of boiling water onto the top of the drum leave for a min tip the drum to remove water the use the tap wrench.
Maybe I'm just over safety

Same here Jules, basic wrench is king and never had a problem. Seen some dramatic suction from Methanol drums but never one sucked in so hard it wouldn't shift :)

OR undo the little 3/4" bung first, the breather, far less load on it.

I've made some changes (with much help from Julian) and it's now gone live on the wiki. ;D

Nice one Mark :)
