Saw the news yesterday but this is a new twist on what it might be.

Maybe we should supply the RSPB with large amounts of glycerol soap then - that dissolves veg oil really well without being harmful.
Who is going to be the first one to be seen wringing out dead birds into some 60 litre clip tops as a new oil source I wonder? Come to think of it, might as well just use the whole bird for bio

wasnt it palm i heard?

Could be right about the Glyc, as it sounds as though they are having trouble washing the birds. Anyone know a birdy type to suggest it to?
And here is one of the comments from the bottom of the article.
"No veg oil has value. Most likely container on deck washed off in storm. Happens often."
Pure genius.
Now if it was a container washed overboard, then it could be oozing it out for ages. The birds might be trying to eat it, then getting covered. Be nice to find it washed up on a beach somewhere though, with a few tonne of new palm in it.....

Yep, just heard the oil is a clear mineral based material.
Anyway if it was palm it would have looked like an iceberg, a single lump. :) :)
