Is it permissable to copy quotations from one web site and post in another??

I can't see why not.

What do you have in mind?

It was just that a certain person has taken quotes from myself and others to create an entirely different spin on events

I'd say strictly speaking, no.  Especially if the site or page carries a copyright notice.  That said unless it's of great commercial value or literary merit, most times you'd get away with it.

The easiest thing is to ask permission to use it.  I've done it many times for the wiki.  If you state it's a not for profit, non commercial site, and offer a credit (although in the case of the wiki we don't offer links), most people are only too pleased to help.

I'm confused now!

Why is it too late?

If you take exception to it ask for it to be deleted.

Ah, just cottoned on ... personally I'd just ignore it.  Making a scene will just highlight and prolong the issue.

Here's a question then....who would you feel if messages via the PM service were published on the open forum without permission. Something I take great offence at but have so far not taken any action over other than to PM the person they were sent to?

I think I will take heed of the old biblical quote 'turn the other cheek'

Wish I had a simple answer, wouldn't be happy myself, but glad you're not responding in kind.

Personally, id have no issue with it : )

The news papers are full of times when people hit 'send' when they really should have taken a moment.

I once managed to text a dreadlocked friend something that was supposed to go to my new girlfriend!  There's always a risk, even with comms that are supposed to be way more 'private' than internet chat forums!

Its like gossiping behind closed doors - people can still hear.  If you dont want people to know whatever deeply private comments you may be making, then, well, dont make them.

There probably is more to life than biodiesel!

(not to mention gossiping behind closed doors)

I think most of it is still intact, except for the bit where i took a swipe at the American. I dunno if he responded or not, so I might have missed it.

That's dissapointing. With an English degree, 'arse' should have be used not 'ass'.

Two of the Mods should be 'rather more moderate' in their comms, IMO.
Take that recent 'Merc for sale' post; the Mod is a member of that guy's forum!

Quite. And considering he claims to be an ordained Buddhist Monk, the concept of being a disinterested observer, seems to have escaped him.

McDuff, if it wasn't the blending that did for your injector spray pattern and piston rings, what did cause the problem if you don't mind my asking?

Edit: answered own question:

http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/viewthread.php?tid=21589#pid244601

Quote
An update - The 2 door's engine was stripped down and there was a heavy carbon build up around the tops of the cylinders probably caused by slow burning oil. The injector inlet hole into the pre-combustion chamber of one of the pistons was blocked by carbon, this in turn appears to have blocked the injector and as the glow plug had less and less cooling from the fuel it burnt through and fell onto the piston where it burnt a hole through it - hence no compression. All the pistons had damaged rings and heavy coking of the grooves directly below the pre-combustion chamber. Rebuild amost complete and hopefully will be running later this week.

But you believe this to be an engine design problem as others have had similar just on Diesel?

Tony - it was either a bad injector or cold oil on cold starts in winter. It was either not spraying correctly to start with or the injector started gumming up and just got worse - or a combination of both
