Just as I was feeling smug that I'm cleaner than most brewers I've met....
Tonight I've had a massive 40L leak in the boot, involving really rank stuff.
(See the VOD thread re. Arash's collections)
I'm going to have to take the day off for this Mother.
Any tips, especially on ridding the smell?
Any Octavia boot trim going spare?

I feel like every other bit of mess / spill from the past 4 years, compunded, was but a tiny fly in the ointment.
Whereas, right now this seems a f*** off great big Hornet if ever I saw one. Completely another dimension.
Maybe it will all look better in daylight? Haha, I wish.

I banged on the window with my elbow, requesting kitchen roll supplies.
I managed not to get oil on me, but she remarked on my (worse than normal) stench from arm's length...
Ho hum.

I had a look but it was a saloon.

Can you drain liquid while it's standing (any way to do this, maybe a plastic cap on a lower part of the boot pan, or maybe just drill a hole?
Oil will always find it's way out, but it definitely gets helped with loads of Fairy Liquid/washing machine detergent and a pressure washer to drive it deep into the carpet.
Mine is smelling OK these days and that was a good 30-40l spill rinsed out with a pressure washer and detergents - but it could gravity drain OK!

I park mine over a drain at an incline! I have given up cleaning them now, just let another layer cake over the older caked layer!
I love the smell of polymerised puke 1st thing in the morning!

The boot carpet, minus the hardboard pieces, has just finished the spin cycle.
5 hours, 5 quid....and it's nearly done.
Got 5L of useable crud, err yay!
If you're planning on letting fly 40L of sickky-yuk in a car, an Octavia estate is a good 'un to chose.
5 big bungs in the wheel well and the carpety bits come out OK.
The Mrs is using it in the morning, let's see how that goes...

If its ok by you i will just take your word for it,i do commend you on dedication in this, i would of just looked at the bungs and said an Octavia should be great for carrying "loose"oil but you went the extra mile in the interests of the Wiki and proved it,i look forward to your page on it

I feel for you Andy...that is a big mess. I've only had tiny spills in the car so far...nothing major but requiring a bit of glyc, a yard brush and a hose pipe to sort.

Hmmpf! Just starting machine wash #2.
It's not really carpet, it's that 'blotting paper' felt stuff.
Holds about 15 times its own weight in oil, it seems.

Of course, you'd have fitted a tap to a bung-hole = 5 micron wvo outta the wheel well thru that felt carpet filter.
I'm fancying a pizza now. I'll go out and check if my rain-free inch stripe down the road has caught any mopeds! :-\

I had a spill in the back of an 806 once. Was 20 litre's and I cannot believe how far it spread!
I removed all but the dirver seat. Drove it to the local albanian car wash and then removed the driver seat.
Paid them £40 to sort it out.
Left the car running with the heaters on for a while to dry things out and all was great.
Expensive lesson learnt
