Well I was already sold on the titration water washing, but now the temps have dropped I'm even more impressed.
I washed my last batch over a few days so the temp was nice and low for the last wash,
this has produced only a small amount of HMPE's (compared to previous batches),
the feed stock included about 15% gloopy oil (whites).
I'm drying a batch now that had two cold washes, these were settled for 23hrs before draining and the yield is quite a bit higher
(I must have been draining a good few liters of bio with the water on previous batches).
I'm hoping this will have reduced HMPE's even more.
On a side note I've replaced the battery on my daughters car today and wonder if the acid from this is any good for the acid wash stage.

Hi mark
For me water washing is the way to go every time and with the titration method there is no real risk and can be done relatively quickly so it's just a win win.
With regards to your battery acid it will be fine and it should be about 50-60% sulphuric acid.
I've told everyone on my trading estate that I will take old batteries but I think the traveler boys have got there name on them.

Yes but they're hard to read, far to much double posting.

Let me know when you are planning a trip to Cornwall Paul - I will have plenty of Glyc if you want it.

Fair enough! I let them settle out and separate them (in that respect not just rinsing away!) but I doubt I've got the extra temp drop insurance that water washing gives.
Obviously doing to much acid
I do feel a certain one-ness with the HMPEs as they swirl before my eyes :o
