593 looks like a cracking workbench for biodiesel.  I do keep an eye out locally in case such a thing turns up here but no luck yet!

Yay - I won the auction - got that nice shiny lump of stainless for £45bid (plus 10% auction fee + VAT on the whole lot).
Total cost about £60.

I am actually going to drive up there with a trailer and pick it up - needs to be gone out of their place by 5pm on Thursday at the latest and, since it will be easier to get into my workshop before I put anything else back in there, I thought best to get it sooner rather than later.

Ring them up -  01242 241 111 give them your name, the lot number and the date of the auction.
They will then take payment over the phone (as I have done with my table) or you can pay on collection.

If you look in your 'my account' section and then winning bids, it will show if you have won something.

The lady I spoke to on the phone was really helpful.

What have you bought there anyway?

If you are going to collect your shiny thing and Keith is collecting his paint, maybe we can all meet up at the same time for a chinwag.

400 miles later I am home. well worth the trip - the bench is great. Smiths of the dean were really helpful too and I have a nice collection of 45 litre mango chutney drums.

I highly recommend AMS, they were really helpful and a very smooth transaction.

And, many thanks to Keith and Rotary for their hospitality and Rotary's top coffee making skills.

I've just been offered a P plate Disco XS (the one with nice half leather interior, Aircon and ABS) with a blown engine but otherwise in perfect order for the princely sum of £200
I think I will be taking that, pulling out the severely overheated and cooked engine and dropping in the well maintained and serviced engine from my current lower spec model which is looking quite tired.
I can then keep my old one for spares for the newer one.

No, I didn't either, but then the bids were rather low, just on the off chance.

Difficult bidding without actually being there and seeing how the prices go.  Low internet bids are probably just cannon fodder to get the bidding started.

Hi
on this site sweeney-kincaid,  you have to pay 38% on top, 15% buyers premium and vat on whole amount, so what appears cheap could be expensive with 38% added. I think most online auctions work to these figures.

ive noticed that at auctions ive gone to -

when youre there, they start at, say, 100 :

one hundred, one hundred, one hundred, ok then, eighty, eighty (etc)

it gets down to 50 and someone bids, and then starts to rise again.

but, if youve added a commisioned bid, theyre just going to go to that, and sell it you.  you wont get the drop down to 50, as they know youll pay 90 (or whatever)

a commisioned bid is so much easier, but i just dont think they work for real-life auctions?

Bugger,
its quite safe, ive been a "member" for a few years, RM and Jules have also signed up, you dont get any spam
Its an auction of power tools etc, used
I think the "commission bid" depends on the auction, some are fair, this one always goes for your highest amount as you said
