Not linked it into the tools menu yet, wanted to get some opinions on if it's useful/interesting or not:

Interesting, but I don't know about useful. Edit ... didn't mean scrap it in case that's the way it came over, sorry!
Could we show weekly Dino prices? Then we could all gloat as the price rises.
Might get data from here ... http://www.catalist.com/Products%20and%20Services/Fuel%20price%20data.aspx
It seems to be where the AA get their info from.
-
I've added a diesel price graph using the same scale as the other ones. USD per Gallon though.
-
Not only USD but it reflects the US market ... you can tell that 'cos the prices go down every so often!
Here's one with UK dino prices ... http://www.whatgas.com/petrol-prices/diesel-prices.html
Says to ask them if you want to use the info ... with a bit of groveling, as a non profit site we'll probably get use of it for free.
I'm happy to ask if you want me to.

I like that
Useful to see trends over time

Ooh yes I like that. Please do grovel, you seem to have had good success in the past (must be your technique!)

With a little further scrutiny, they have a page on using their data! http://www.whatgas.com/data/index.html
We can use it, but have to provide a link back to their site. I've had a good look and they don't, on the face of it seem to be an overtly commercial site. I'm guessing that they generate revenue by adds and referrals. Could someone confirm my thoughts?
Do we treat their site as commercial and not link to it? I can try asking if they will be happy with a text credit rather than an active link, but I suspect I know the answer to that.
What are peoples opinions?
-
Well if you're being picky all the graphs I've just added link back to their source site on clicking. I hadn't actually thought about how our rules on non-commercial linking applied (I guess when it's something we get from them, then it's more fair?). Not sure on that one Julian.

You know me, Picky is my middle name!
I didn't realise the graphs you'd already uploaded were links.
I recon they could be considered as providing the wiki/forum with a service and as such differ from a company providing text, photos or information. Neither site is overtly commercial, so if you can make the whole graph the link, as with the existing graphs, I'd say go ahead on admins discretion ... assuming no other admins have any objection ... Keith, Keith, Chug?

I like graphs. Can you put all the international stock indices up as well? And the all the commodities exchanges, if you would please.............:P
-
I've done that for you, but they're all less than one pixel in size in order to fit them all on the page!

Hi all I think the link's good and really they are only supplying info in return for maybe a bit more trafic to their site . It's not like they are using the forum as a sales tool for cheep marketing
Just my thoughts on it

And very reasonable thoughts they are too, if I may say so.
