Title: New subjects
Post by: K.H on December 01, 2010, 09:11:17 PM
Im going to try and write up some articles-Making bar soap,design and parts list for a twin drum processer and my bio method (to be added to Tonys )
Ive got vid clips and scanned drawings but im going to have to try and master MS paint as well,the actual chances of me being able to master posting these up is v slim :-[ so is there anyone i can pass my drafts onto?

Keith, as you are on the verge of starting a new page and are new to all this, could you check out my post "Starting point for a new page" and try being a "guinea pig"

If you want to make a page called "Apples", do a search on Apples and click the link "Create the page "Apples" on this wiki! ", then, in a new window, go to http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/New_Page , click edit and copy the code, paste this into the text box on the "Apples" page and use it as your starting point.

I know it might sound complicated but once you get going it's not too bad.

save = saves page to edit it again sometime... you need to drop a code/tag at bottom of page for it to list

~~~~ adds your user to the page, meaning your name goes in as creator!
I've changed it to http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Making_bar_soap_from_Glycerol and this is now linked from the front page, though that doesn't have to be it's final name!
On the theme of new subjects maybe we need a very very basic page explaing the difference between using veg and bio
This particular post brought this to mind
Yes definitely, that thought has occurred to me as well.  Just a simple explaination that assumes the reader knows little on the subject.
Felt sorry for that guy, asked a simple question and sounded confused and people go off on one rather than type a sensible reply?
JTF page is quite interesting.
I didn't start with SVO and a Dr Pepper batch.  I did a lot of research and then dived straight in with an 80l batch of WVO.
I remember having sheets of printed notes and carefully following the instructions, making sure all the steps were done correctly and in the right order.
Now it's all second nature, quick titration, prod a calculator, mix it up, throw a few valves, done ;D
Fair point, that thought did cross my mind last week - I'm open to suggestions!
Edit: Made them a bit more common between bio/veg :)
Isn't it quiet?
Keith, do you have any still photos of your processor?
I'll defiantly put the diffuser in your processor page to compliment the sparge pipe.  Bet it stinks when you're drying the oil ... probably best not to mention that doesn't happen with a GL.
Posted the soap water pics on the t tub thread
Thanks Keith.
Processor pic is great ... I want to fill the gap next to the contents box.
Soap photo looks ideal and can also go in the wash section of your page but it's only 100 pixels wide.  Any chance of a larger version please circa 600 pixels?
I'm not certain, but reading between the lines I guess Alex had one of his posts regarding correct English and spelling edited/deleted and seems a little miffed from the tone of things.
I've just approved him as a wiki editor so hopefully he can correct some of my sloppy smelling and grammar!
Title: Re: New subjects
Post by: Julian on December 31, 2010, 11:42:04 AM
A bigger still of the diffuser would be good too.
Just a thought but, would it be more efficient if the cone was a steeper angle or curved so that the "spray" ended up more horizontal?  The idea might work better than the Squirrel I've made!
Title: Re: New subjects
Post by: K.H on December 31, 2010, 07:04:43 PM
The steeper the angle the better i would of thought,i tried a steeper one on mine (about 5 mins) but i was getting a lot of splatter leaving the clip top
No probs, I quite enjoy it when I get time.  It's still not finished though.  The wash tank section need completing.  Thinking about it the wash tank could be a separate section on it's own to save  page getting too long.
What do you recon?
It would make sense to be a seperate section,and if you want to dump my diagram feel free,it rather lowers the tone now :)
Title: Re: New subjects
Post by: Julian on January 02, 2011, 01:26:37 PM
Ok, that's all tidied up now, so I guess the page is finished.  Really appreciate close scrutiny by a couple of people, just to ensure I've not made any howlers!.
I think having a separate wash tank page makes sense as it could then be used in conjunction with other processor types.
I've renamed all the processor pages so the group alphabetically in the index and I'm part way through the wash tank diagram.  I will list this with the prefix of "processor" to keep things consistent.
Does anyone have experience of "bubble washing" where a reservoir of water sits below the bio and air is bubbled into the water carrying small amounts up into the bio with each bubble?
Definitely useful to include.
Speaking of which, the forum discussion on 27/3 accuracy has greatly clarified a few things in my mind about how it works and accuracy - so I'll watch the thread with interest and add more detail to the wiki pages that mention it.
Still enjoying accumilating the finer points all into one place.  Getting very proud of our little wiki project :)
