Title: Calcium Hydride, Countrypaul please help.
Post by: dgs on October 17, 2022, 01:50:41 PM
Hi Paul, I've run out of Hydride for the Sandy Brae and Sigma Aldrich (now Merck) won't supply me as I am not registered for VAT ( I know, bloody ridiculous) seems they don't want to deal with private people even though they have done so in the past.

Can you help please, do you have any contacts that could supply me. Cheers, Dave.

So you have a link for the sort you need so that it is easier to identify quality & quantity?  I'll check around once I can give a clear indication of exactly what is needed, otherwise I can see great possibilities of people getting confused, for example thinking I meant hydroxide rather than hydride!

Dave,

Sorry for not replying earlier but I was away and had no access to the Internet.

Not having much luck I'm afraid, although I was pointed to this company: https://www.scientificlabs.co.uk/ based in hull I believe. From checking their terms it appears they do deal with consumers as well as trade. They list the correct product I believe,  in fact supplied by Merck, but only in 100g quantities. https://www.scientificlabs.co.uk/product/21170-100G-F# at £112+

Might be worth call to see if they will supply in the smaller quantity.

I'll see if I can find find any other options.
