Is this forum dead?
-
I log in twice a day just to catch up and was thinking the very same thing?
When fuel was £2/litre there was a lot more chatter on here.
-
I have recently got an EV car and I'm using that every day, the wife now works from home so the other car doesn't go very far.
I have gone from doing 30k miles a year (in 2 cars with B100) to about 6k.
This means I'm only doing a brew every 6 weeks or so now.

Mr Tickle, I was waiting for a response from you on the glycerol prewash temperature thread but nothing.
It had been more active on here until mid Sept
-
I look in every morning just to see. I suppose people are using the Facebook groups more now. Yes I look at that as well.
-
Thanks Dave -
i missed your post as it popped onto P2.
Will be trying that from now on :)

It's gone very quiet again, no posts for days.
I'm not sure how long us old men in sheds will continue to brew, our hobby should probably be put on the extinct warning list.
With electric cars becoming more common and many newer cars having much better mpg I can see that maybe within 10 years or fewer almost all veg and Bio making will be finished for the uk, with only the die hards and prepers (lol!) continuing. Of course local authorities my legislate us off the roads quicker if they can through schemes to disinsentify older vehicles through ulez or congestion.
My main vehicle now is electric and it's so cheap to run that the 2nd car (Bio)only gets used rarely and when we need 2 cars at the same time or to tow something.
I'm thinking I'll process my remaining 1000 litres of oil and knock it all on the head.
It's been a blast for 13 years and probably 300,000 miles on Bio, saved a fortune and spent too much time in the garage.
On the upside, I can re-claim the garage and de-grease all of my tools for the last time!

Yes, a whole year and a day has passed since the last post on this thread.
About 5 years ago there were 7 people in the York area (than I know of ) making bio, now there are 5 ( one of these is a newby) so not a massive decrease in numbers in this area
Miscalculation (forgot how many fingers I have) there were 10 brewers now there are 7

I check by all the time... not much going on here and I don't have much to say to start a convo off
veg oil was awesome when I was doing the driving... now I'm not other people just can't be trusted anymore :-(

I look in regularly even though I don't post much these days, and I have just renewed the biopowered domain for another 2 years
-
I log in every morning - a difficult habit to break after 14 years!
This week I started up my Mercedes 190 2.5, mothballed in the enclosed lean-to at the rear of the house. I hadn't had it running for a couple of years and I borrowed one of these highly-powered starter thingys. It fired up on the first turn of the key, albeit after two or three seconds as I had forgotten I should have waited 'til the glow-plug light had gone out!
I still run around the Highlands collecting oil as part of my retirement pastime.

Well done Chug, must be about my turn now, remind me in two years!
Still collecting oil here but haven't made bio or put it in my slightly newer DPF equipped car yet. It's considerably more fuel efficient than the Merc and I don't drive anywhere near as much, so it's not such a burden to top it up with the expensive stuff once a month.
Can't bring myself to part with the kit though...

I look in every couple of weeks hope every one is ok.
