Title: new project
Post by: photoman290 on April 14, 2022, 07:41:19 PM
i am starting a new project. a 6 dof stewart platform for a flight simulator. had a few pm with juilan and now feel i am far enough along to talk about it. it is still a growing pile of bits at the moment but it at the stage that it could become interesting quite soon. the design i am copying is by motion4sim. there is a youtube video of it. he has send me all the files on the construction if anyone is interested. i have the motors the aduinos and the motor controller splus a 3kw 24 volt power supply. plus the software to link it to xplane which is what i will using.  i am waiting for the encoders which are on backorder till june. i am working on reducing the speed of the motors from 125 rpm to around 45 using angle grinder gearboxes as this seems to be the cheapest way to do it. looking for ideas on connecting the geareboxes to the motor outputs. as i need 6 of them the usual things like 2 half couplings are too expensive. it only has to move 180 degrees but with as little backlash as possable as the drive is already going though 2 gearboxes. anyone interested in brainstorming how to this feel free to pm me or email me email is better as i check that daily.

Quite a few to choose from here at good prices ...

I've used the type with the polyurethane spider several times and they are very effective.
