Title: PSU voltage question
Post by: Vijay on May 08, 2021, 11:52:18 AM
Got a PSU for an old laptop that threw me. The laptop wouldn't turn on , so I measured the voltage out of the PUS and it was correct at 20v, but when plugged into the laptop, it drops to 3v. Any idea why that has happened and can the PSU be easily fixed?

The laptop works fine with my benchtop PSU, so it's definitely the laptop PSU at fault.

Cheers

Vijay

The most likely fault is the capacitors in the psu check for any that are
bulging on the top and replace.
