Just went to post on VOD, and shock horror the bandwidth has been exceeded again!
Just after a recommendation for a rotary barrel pump. Are any brands better built than others?
Cheers

I've got a couple of cheap ones and they are so simple that I wouldn't worry about build quality.
One of them has a larger bore pipe and it does seem to pump a bit faster.
Mine seize up if left for any length of time after pumping veg but they're easy to pull apart and clean out.

I'm with Keef...they are a piece of piss to take apart and clean. I had one for years....incredibly efficient. Not entirely sure what happened to it. Certainly didn't make the transition to my new home.

The veg tends to stick the vanes in the rotor if they are left standing. The one I had used a very thin cellophane type gasket to seal the cover, this ripped the first time I stripped it down so I made a new one from a cereal packet. It then decided it didn't want to work anymore, I realized that a close fit between the rotor and the cover was important to create suction, something I removed by using a thicker gasket. Some thin gasket paper sorted it.
I don't use one anymore but I used to play a hot air gun over it whilst frantically wanking the handle if it became gummed up from storage.
