I've just been given a filtertechnique drywash tower from a former producer of bio. Now call me old fashioned but I've always been a water washer. Would someone like to convince me that after 12 years I should change my methods?

Carry on water washing.

If you don't want it I'll take it off your hands!

Those filtertechnik towers were originally designed to be used at very high pressure. The crude bio was mixed with magnesol then passed through the tower. As the filter element got caked with magnesol it served as a filter to remove the rest of the magnesol fines.
There is only one other person in the country that still uses magnesol besides myself as far as I know. I love the stuff but you have to be careful with it.
Nige, you can use the tower with just normal media in it but if I were you I would carry on water washing.

The tower came fully loaded so needs a clean out but it did come with a bag full of oak chippings/shavings.

I used to religiously dry-wash through a homemade hardwood woodchippings tower, but eventually the bio got to the plastic fittings and it all cracked apart. I stopped using it after that and just extended the settle time. It was always a PITA to deal with changing bio-soaked media too.
At the time I would have loved one of those filtertechnique towers Nige :)

I decided to pass the tower on. As I said in the opening post..I'm quite old fashioned and settled in my methods. The new owner is Richardp who already finishes his bio via a eco2pure resin tower. He's been after one of thes stainless steel beauties for some time. Thanks to Jerry...the origonal owner...he has what he's always desired.

When you've got a routine that works, stick to it. Glad it has gone to someone that will use it.

I'm pleased it's gone to someone who will use it. Jerry gifted me the best part of 400lts of oil, a venturi I made for him and an eductor Pops made. Not sure it'll work on my plant but prepared to give that a go.

I’ve also got a dry wash tower, only used it a few times then kept on water washing, anyone want it? Shame to bin it.
